Leadership in Context Episode 137 Show Notes

Denying the Creator

Leadership in Context with Keith Tucci

Episode 137

It is vital that we draw our conclusions based on Scripture, not our own thoughts or experiences.

I’ve been asked several questions with increasing frequency about the transgender identification issue. I want to walk you through some Scripture so you have biblical footing on how to respond. We want to make sure we are answering out of the authority of God’s Word and not an emotional or intellectual response.

Romans 1:32

And although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

“Such things” are listed in the verses right before this—sexual perversion, men burning for men and women burning for women, etc. Perversion is a strong word that means that something is being used in a way that it was not designed for. A perversion is a misuse.

The objective in this passage is that they not only want to be allowed to do whatever they want to their own body, but they also want to reject God as being God in their lives. (Sounds familiar, right?)

Their end agenda is that we “also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” They will not stop until we applaud them. One translation says “celebrate” and one translation says “delight in it.”

We were made in the image of God--made male and female. When those images are blurred, it blurs the image of God. When the distinction of a woman or man is made outside of the Bible, that is an attack on the image of God.

Exodus 23:1

You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.

A witness in the Bible is not just someone who says something; sometimes it’s someone who doesn’t say something. In the law of covenant, silence is an amen. Their objective is for the Church to stay silent. I’ve heard of church growth strategies of staying silent because it will impact the growth of the church. Instead, it impacts the integrity of the Church.

Exodus 23:2

You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice.

Do not be influenced by the crowd. Do not put yourself in a position where you have to celebrate with your silent or vocal “amen.” What is at stake here is the Church losing its voice.

Romans 1:18

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

In the Greek, it says, “…men willfully hold back the truth.” When you look at verses 18-32, everything in there is a strategy. We look at this issue as just being a sexual one, and it is because that is important. But it is an even bigger picture than that.

It’s nullifying the voice of God in our culture.

It’s nullifying the voice of God in people’s lives.

It’s nullifying the ability to say anything is right or wrong.

It’s nullifying the ability to say something is clearly what it is. (A man is clearly a man, and a woman is clearly a woman.)

Romans 1:19

Because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

God made it evident. There is something within man that God has made evident to them--that they are a created being, and they are not God. How do we know this? The next verse tells us.

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

God created male and female. It has been clear since creation “so that they are without excuse.” When you take blood, bone marrow, or muscle mass, regardless of whether they have had surgeries or not, it will still say male or female. It is not hidden.

What is at stake here is absolute Truth. God is giving us an incredible illustration that there is absolute Truth; but in spite of that, people will deny it.

Romans 1:21

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

When you invite speculations that are against the obvious revealed will of God and who God is, there is a darkness that descends upon you. When you resist Truth, you build up an intolerance to it. This can happen even in the life of a believer. The more you are disobedient, the easier it is to be disobedient.

Romans 1:29-30

Being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful.

“…inventors of evil…” It’s hard to believe that the transgender movement could get any worse, but it can. In our lifetime, unless we have revival, we are going to see pedophilia legalized. We are going to see the age of consent be continually lowered. There are states that are already interfering with parental rights and taking children as young as six years old out of the home to give them gender therapy.

Romans 1:32

And although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

This is why there is such anger and hatred. This is why they want us to be quiet. They say the reason there is sp much depression, high rates of suicide, and abuse among sexual partners is not because of them, but because we are making them feel bad for what they are saying/doing. They want to hold us accountable for making them hurt each other and take their own lives. What is really happening is a witness of the death that is already in them.

Next week, we are going to discuss some thinking that we may have that is very unbiblical when it comes to these things.

Join us next week as Keith Tucci continues to put leadership truth in the context of the local church. And as always, please like, share, rate/review, and invite others to listen. See you next week!
