MORE IN HONDURAS

MORE IN HONDURAS

Michelle Johns

Buffalo Dream Center, NY

As I drove home from Montana De La Flor, I reflected on all the amazing things God has done here in Honduras in the past year. While most of the world decided to put everything on hold for nearly two years due to COVID, God opened a huge door of opportunity for us in Honduras.

In September 2020, God spoke to me and said, “You will be back on the mission field before the end of the year.”

In November 2020, I was on a plane with my daughter, Mikayla, headed to Honduras, a nation we had been working in for many years. This trip marked the beginning of a new season for our ministry in Honduras. It is hard for me to fully explain in words everything that happened this past year in Honduras, but what I can say is that we saw more fruit and gained more territory for the Kingdom of God in this past year than in the previous ten years added together.

God opened doors to our small team of people from the United States, Canada, Guatemala, and Honduras from one end of the country to the other. We have visited countless cities and remote villages, preaching the gospel everywhere we go, seeing people saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, healed, and set free. We have traveled for hours by canoe into the rainforest to preach the gospel and share the love of Jesus. We have driven for hours in the mountains, preaching the gospel and sharing the love of Jesus. We have slept in churches, in villages, outside under the stars, and in people’s homes. We have preached in the dirt, in the mud, in the rain, in churches, on the side of the road, in soccer fields, at schools, around campfires, in community centers, from the back of a pickup truck, and under the stars. This past year we also came alongside the GlobalROAR to help start three Bible Schools in Honduras and one in Guatemala.

My favorite door that God opened in 2021 had to do with my mountain, Montana De La Flor. Almost 10 years ago, I promised the chief of the Tolupan Indians in Montana De La Flor before he died that I would share the love of Jesus with his people and help his people as much as I could. From that day, until 2021, I would visit the mountain once or twice each year to preach the gospel and help the people. In 2021, with the help of Feed the Hungry, we started thirteen feeding programs, feeding over one thousand, three hundred children plus adults in thirteen different communities in Montana De La Flor. I have nearly two hundred women who volunteer at the feeding programs every week, and almost every one of them is now serving Jesus. Now I have a team of believers that visit the mountain at least once a month to share the love of Jesus with the people. On this trip, I watched as the children ate, played, and learned about Jesus. They are happier. They are healthier. They have hope. They have found love.

My favorite sound in the mountain is hearing the children sing, “I have a friend who loves me. His name is Jesus.”

God is moving in Montana De La Flor. We are raising up a new generation of believers in Montana De La Flor who are going to win souls and win this nation for Jesus!
