My name is Cody Adams. I wanted to share with you what Portland Bible College (PBC) has done for me. A brief background is I am 38, married, blessed with a 7-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son. I have a very demanding job as a supervisor at a nuclear power plant. I am planted in my church where I am a member of the worship team, and my wife is a member of our intercessory prayer team. My wife and I have been saved for about 8 years. We live very busy lives.
When I felt the calling to go back to school, I was quick to dismiss it. I am just a normal guy. I do not particularly care to read and study. I did not feel equipped to go back to school and change my routine of life, especially after being out of school for so long. I did not think I could dedicate enough time and give it my all. I hid behind the facts that I was married, had two children, and had a very demanding job. I created the excuses that stopped me from signing up sooner. But thankfully, I decided at the end of last year to give it a whirl.
I just completed my first semester at PBC, and it has changed my life! Honestly, one of my biggest concerns was time and schedule, but it was not too difficult adjusting my schedule to get to all my lessons and work done. PBC is biblically sound. Everything taught in my classes could be easily found in the Bible. The way the instructors present materials prompts you to think and question things in a different light, giving you a newfound understanding of things you have already heard and know. When I began to truly tune in, topics I had known about since I got saved became 3-D.
I am so thankful I decided to take a leap of faith and go back to school. My wife said the change in me is evident. My walk with the Lord grew so much in my first 14-week semester. I am now a better leader, husband, father, and Christian after only completing one semester. I know this is because the Lord has blessed me because I decided to dedicate my time to learn more about Him and His Word.
